Past Workshops

Workshop Policies

• Payment for all workshops is by cash or cheque.
• If a class overfills on the first night of registration, there will be a lottery.
• If a class does not fill on the first night of registration, the workshop committee will decide if the class will go ahead.
• If a class does go ahead, all those registered on the first night will be guaranteed a spot. Further registrations will be collected on a first come, first served basis.
• Most workshops require full payment on registration. Others require a non-refundable deposit to hold your space, with the balance due at the next meeting.
• If a workshop is cancelled, those registered will receive a full refund.
• Members unable to attend a workshop may send a friend in their place; once registered and paid, refunds are generally not given.

Seminole Six (January 2010)

Just in time for the Olympics, and having nothing whatsoever to do with them, it’s Seminole Six! Five new rows, a new border idea and lots of fun as usual. Good for repeaters or newbies – bring some fabric and enjoy two days of Seminole with Carol. Makes a great quilt for guys, gals, babes, parents and even teenage boys!

Spring Retreat 2010 (February 2010)

Enjoy three days of fun and relaxation as you work on finishing some of your UFOs in the company of fellow quilters, and let others take care of the meals. The retreat sold out very quickly last year, so be sure to register early.

Drawing on Your Stash: Art Basics for the Fun-loving Quilt Maker (March 2010)

Drawing on Your Stash’ promises lots of fun, as you explore different principles of design and learn ways to alter fabric with different mediums: oilsticks, dyes, markers and paint. Take one day, two days, or all three days – your choice. The kit contains all of your supplies – all you need to do is bring to class are some ugly fabrics!

A Mini Spring Seminar (April 2010)

Esterita Austin will offer 3 workshops over 4 days, kicking off this special event at the April 27, 2010 guild meeting with "Classic Rock," a Powerpoint/Trunk Show.

Date/Time:	April 28: Creating the Illusion of Depth Train your eye and sharpen your design ability. Learn how to create the illusion of depth by working with three design elements: perspective, value and light source. You’ll learn an easy, no fail, technique of fusing. There is no accuracy with seam allowances, no points to match and no sewing machines. This is a loose technique that allows for greater freedom in construction. Build your confidence to go beyond the quilt surface into its visual depth. [supply list] April 29: Sheers to You Sheer fabrics are the building blocks for a translucent, shimmering still life that will glow and sparkle while adding depth to your finished piece. You will be provided with a pattern and fabric kit to be taught an easy fusing technique that will add more creative tools to your fiber art repertoire. [supply list] April 30-May 1: Painted Bowls In this 2 day class, working from a pattern as your starting point, you will create bowls from multi valued fabrics and further enhance them with textile paint to give the illusion that "POPs". Perspective, value, color and composition will be covered. Not a painter? Not Artistic? No worries! This is a class for beginners or intermediate. [supply list]
